What should I wear?
When you book your session you will receive a document with some tips on what to wear to make the most of your session!

Should I get my hair and makeup done?
This is 100% up to you! I'd say it's a 50/50 split on whether or not people choose to get professional hair and makeup. No matter what, please take a moment to yourself to do what it takes for you to feel as relaxed and as at ease as possible during our session!

I really want to recreate this shot I saw on pinterest/on your website! Can you do it?
The customer service side of me says yes, but the photographer in me says no. hard no.  My main/only goal is to give you photos that you will be over the moon excited for, so of course I'd love to accommodate any requests you have - but but but -  every family is so totally different, and trying to mess with the energy of the thing by forcing poses is not always a great idea!  The best way to get fresh and authentic life-filled photographs of you and your family is to trust me and go with the natural flow of the session.  This also ensures you get photos unique to you :)

Do you do newborn sessions?
I do not offer newborn sessions in the "traditional" sense with posing and props. But if your family includes a newborn and you'd like photographs of you all enjoying this new and exciting ride you're on then let's do it! But I repeat: I do not do newborn photographs with posing or props!

I really want to book but I don't think my kids are well behaved enough to last for a session.
Kids will be kids, and trust me when I say I can handle it! I worked as a swimming instructor for 10 years, I have seen. it. all.  The tantrums, the moods, the hair-pulling - you can try, but you really can't phase me.

Sounds great, but you haven't met my kid! Seriously, there's no way this is going to work!
What I've found with these sessions is that the less pressure we put on kids to "perform" the better chance we have at keeping the tantrums at bay.  So that means no forcing kids to look at the camera, sit still or say cheeeeese - it just doesn't work! instead, I work hard to get on their level and let them have fun while still controlling things enough to get the shots I need.  This way you'll come away with a snapshot of their true personality and not a forced smile we got under duress.   Call it managed chaos.

I want to take pictures at a different location than ones you suggested, is this possible?
I try to keep the booking process as streamlined as possible for busy parents (myself included!), so the 3 available locations are tried and true spots that I know work amazingly for family sessions in the current season. These locations will change with the seasons!

What if it rains?
I will be in touch in the week leading up to your session and if looks like rain you will have an option to cancel within 24 hours for a full refund. You may also relocate to the covered patio of the Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver. Overcast skies make great sessions, and I’m also game to shoot in light drizzle if you are! Unfortunately, due to Covid, we cannot relocate indoors.

I'm bad at getting my photo taken.
Aren't we all?!! I know it's nerve-wracking to step in front of a stranger holding a big black box, but all I can say is I will work my butt off to make you and yours comfortable and looking your best in front of the camera. I’ll also send a pre-session guide with posing tips!

I notice you only have black and white photographs on your website, do you only shoot in black and white?
Yes, at the moment sessions are all shot on black and white film, so there is no colour option.

Do you photograph weddings?
Used to and loved it! But I do not anymore.

Do you photograph couples?
I photograph families - whatever that looks and feels like to you.
No babies, fur babies - no problem - your family is whoever makes your heart sing.
